Quiet but creative week

Monday, May 14th, 2012

I’ve been having little burst of creativity lately which is always a welcomed thing here.

Subimarket

Earlier in the week I had a little stall in the market, selling some of my art for Mothers Day. If you sell often at markets, you’ll know that they can be a hit and miss. This one in particular was so quiet and the rainy weather didn’t help much either.

But on the positive side of things, I found a lovely vendor who sells beautiful handmade journals. I bought a pocket sketchbook from her and I can’t wait to sketch in it.

Then I came home and worked on the Moleskine exchange project. This is Rowland’s moleskine from Italy with a bit of gnome magic added on his pages.

Scorpio Mo

Monday, April 30th, 2012

And…here is my final Horoscope Mo! I’ve finally completed 12 zodiacs after working on this project for a year (on and off). I’m so happy and excited! Thanks to all my readers for your comments and encouragement!

Besides making them as art prints, I’ll be making a 2013 calendar, featuring all the Little Mos in their star signs. Keep a look out for it, I’m positive it will make a beautiful gift for someone you love!

Now…I just have to think of my next project to embark on, ideas anyone?

Scorpio_mo

A bit about Scorpio Mo:
She has a mysterious and magnetic personality, yet she keeps her deepest thoughts guarded. Her temperament can be intense at times but beneath her harden exterior, she is a gentle and intuitive child.

Gemini Mo

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

I’m really happy with how this horoscope drawing turned out. I thought it would be hard drawing my own star sign but I adore my twin Mo and twin kitties! I hope you like it too!

Gemini_mo

A bit about Gemini Mo:
She is a bubbly and whimsical child, easily fascinated with what life has to offer. Because of her dual nature as symbolised by twins, she is adaptable and flexible with people and situations. A Gemini Mo gets restless quickly and craves for knowledge and new experiences to satisfy her inquisitive mind!

Libra Mo

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

I think this is one of my favourites from my Horoscope Mo series. Bunny love this Easter!

Libra_mo

A bit about Libra Mo:
She is a quiet child who enjoys being in a calm and peaceful environment. Her diplomatic nature means she is always fair and logical. Whilst a Libra Mo can feel pressured to make tough decisions, she just has to find the perfect balance to reach her inner peace!

Taurus Mo

Monday, March 26th, 2012

Another horoscope print that I worked on this weekend:)

Taurus_mo

A bit about Taurus Mo:
She is sweet, loving and enjoys showing affection to those around her. Whilst she may be known for her stubborn streak and strong willed nature, deep down a Taurus Mo is a confident child, determined to act upon her hearts desire!

I thought you might like to see the insides of our moleskine sketchbooks when they are all opened up:)

As the sketchbooks travel around, the pages gets filled up with drawings and paintings. I recently completed two books and have another 3 books to paint. I feel like doing something a little different with my contributions this time. Stay tuned.

Jennifer’s book: Pretend

Monday, February 27th, 2012

moleskine_stack

Good Moly! A stack of moleskine sketchbooks arrived this week from Olivier and it prompted me to work on the Moleskine Sketchbook Exchange this weekend.

First off, Jen’s book. Jen’s moleskine theme is “Pretend” and even though it sounded fun and simple, I couldn’t come up with any decent ideas!

And while thinking hard, I was imagining myself in a different place (I know, so bad of me!). I imagined if I could be anywhere right now, I would love to be sitting in a room with a pretty view. Before I knew it, I was painting my ‘pretend’ window.

A couple more leaves later (and a cat)…

I finished the piece with an Emily Dickinson poem. I think it’s a lovely poem that describes the first blush of the day. I hope you like it Jen!

Dawn
When night is almost done,
And sunrise grows so near
That we can touch the spaces,
It’s time to smooth the hair

And get the dimples ready,
And wonder we could care
For that old faded midnight
That frightened but an hour.

Ewian’s book: Waltzing Matilda

Sunday, February 19th, 2012

moly3_ewian3

My Matilda painting is finished:)

A freshly brewed Billy tea with a Coolibah tree steaming out of the teacup. I also managed to fit in a jumbuck (sheep). I hope you like it Ewian, I had fun working on your Waltzing Matilda theme.

moly3_ewian2

For those who don’t know, Waltzing Matilda is a famous bush song in Australia. It’s also been referred to as the unofficial national anthem of Australia.

Ok, moving onto my next moleskine book, which belongs to Jennifer from Germany. Stay tuned!

Work in progress: Ewian’s book

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

Quite a few exciting projects going on this year! Our Moleskine Sketchbook Exchange has picked up momentum and I’m really excited to see my moleskin book travelling to various countries. Check out the beautiful flying man that Jan has painted on my moleskine and the wonderful flying mushroom monsters that Em has added on my book.

When I posted off my moleskine book, I realised that I didn’t give a theme to my book but amazingly enough everyone else and me included (unconsciously) have incorporated a flying/floating theme to my book. I really like the idea!

moly3_ewian1

Recently I received two moleskine books. I’m working on Ewian’s book at the moment. Her theme is “Waltzing Matilda”. I listened to the song and picked up a few key elements to draw. A teacup filled with Billy tea and a steamy illusion of the Coolibah tree. As I’m typing this…I realised I probably should have painted a jumbuck instead of a rabbit in the cup!! Argh!

I’ll share pictures when I’m done with my Matilda painting!

Leo Mo

Friday, February 17th, 2012

My Horoscope project continues and I’ve finished Leo Mo. I hope you like her:)

Leo_mo

A bit about Leo Mo:
She is warmhearted and charismatic, making her the social butterfly amongst her friends. Never one to shy away from adventure, she loves seeking new challenges and risks. Others may find her exuberant energy a little intimidating but you can always expect a Leo Mo to be led by her adventurous spirit!
