Oh moly…

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

A year ago, my friend Emma and some drawing buddies started a Moleskine Sketchbook Exchange (or attempted to), but everyone was so busy that we had to postpone it. I don’t think any of our moleskines got to experience its first travels. Though I’ve heard recently that the project is now back on track!

Yesterday I took out my moly book and coloured in my year old doodles.

I’ll be posting my book to Jan, and I’m looking forward to having it filled with lots of drawings! You can follow the rest of our moleskine journey here.

This is Cancer Mo, with her little crab friend!

A bit about Cancer Mo:

She is a cautious child and is not one for spontaneity. She likes to work at her own pace! Deep down, she has a sentimental heart and is very caring and nurturing to those around her.

Pisces Mo

Here’s another horoscope illustration I worked on this weekend. This is Pisces Mo. I coloured her with salmon-pink hair!

A bit about Pisces Mo:

She is gentle and compassionate in spirit, and is known for her imaginative and active mind. Other than daydreaming (which is quite often!), she likes helping those around her.

Custom portrait for Tina

tina portrait

Here’s a custom portrait that I was working on over the New Years, while fireworks were popping outside my window.

Tina requested a beach setting for her beach loving family so I decided to use a pastel palette. I used mostly light blue and green hues with sandy beige tones. These are the colours that come to my mind, when I think of the beaches in Australia.

If you’d like to buy a gift certificate of a custom portrait, they are available in my shop in a single portrait or a family portrait. Tina got hers as a Christmas present from her sister, and I know how happy she was with her gift!

Check out my Facebook album to see the rest of my custom portrait collection.

Aquarius Mo

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Today I sat down and drew some ideas that were swimming in my head for some time. I’ve been wanting to draw a series of horoscope illustrations.

Photobucket

I started with Aquarius Mo.

She is bit of a rebel, she doesn’t like to follow the conventional route. She has her own original ideas and is intelligent and inventive.

While colouring Aquarius Mo, I pondered about colouring her hair black like I normally do….or trying a different colour. I decided to go with the latter because I wanted to explore a new style for my horoscope series. What do you think? And more importantly how do you feel about Aquarius Mo’s midnight blue hair?

Custom portrait for Liza

liza portrait

Here’s a fun custom portrait of Liza’s children; Lilly and Max. I really like this piece!

Liza wanted a park setting so she sent me some photos of their favourite park. I prettied up my version of the park by adding some lily flowers and two critter friends:)

She also included pictures of the kids’ favourite outfits and toys for me to reference. I love Lilly’s dress, I wish they had this dress in my size! And this is Buster, Lilly’s toy dog!

I’ll be taking in custom portrait orders for the New Year. If you’d like a portrait of yourself, just email me or purchase them from my shop here. You can view the rest of my portrait collections on my Little Mo and Friends Facebook page.
