Little Mo portrait series
Thursday, February 25th, 2010
I’ve been working on a new series of art prints, in time for Easter! These are my Little Mo portrait series.
I have drawn four portraits to start off this series: Bunny Mo, Tiger Mo, Duck and Mo and Hugging rabbits. Which is your favourite?

Today I’ve been cutting up the boards and packaging them up. The best part is signing the prints, makes me feel a little bit famous!
You can see more pics of me working here.

Hello Tristan,
Welcome to our big world! You look so much like your father and funnily enough you sleep just like me. I think your Bobishi booties fit you well. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms and teach you how to draw cute animals! I think we will have lots of fun together.
Love always,
Your aunty Helena
Bright and happy
Monday, February 22nd, 2010We found a discarded chair, that nobody wanted. It just needed a bit of scrubbing and some prettying up.

I love these print covers, I like to buy prints that makes me happy. These cute designs are from Mint Design and Thirty Five Flowers.
My husband thinks pillow covers are trivial things but when he spots a new cover in our house, he smiles. He says it’s my style and he likes it. So I think I am slowly convincing him that cute covers are a good thing.
I may give this chair a coat of paint. I’ll grab a small can from Bunnings. Pink or blue?
Yo La Tengo
Sunday, February 21st, 2010Last night, Rich surprised me with tickets to Yo La Tengo. Yo La Tengo is one of my favourite bands ever, along with Wilco and Mogwai.
When Rich and I first started dating, he made me a mix cd and one of the tracks was a Yo La Tengo song. It was called Little Eyes. He said the song reminded him of me. You can listen to it here, I think the title says it all.

Over the years, we’ve listened to this band together, danced along to it and even played Yo La Tengo at our wedding. Last night was a sweet reminder of the good times we’ve shared while listening to their music. This is me with the vocalist, Ira Kaplan. Good stuff.

Lunar new year part 2
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010And then my brother-in-law, Aaron arrived for dinner!
For starters, we tossed Yee Sang.

Yee Sang is like a cold salad dish. The dish is surrounded by colourful shredded vegetables like ginger, papaya, turnip, carrots plum sauce, sesame seed and five spice powder. We usually have this dish during the Lunar new year. Everybody will gather around the table and we will all toss and mix the dish together with our chopsticks. While tossing, we’d wish good things for everyone, in hope that all our wishes will come true:)

Our main meal for the night was steamboat. We got this steamboat from my parents as one of our wedding gifts. It’s like a hot pot, and we put the pot filled with soup stock in the middle of the table and add in meat slices and vegetables. If you come and visit me, I’d most likely cook steamboat because I love the idea of sharing a meal from one big pot.
